Lazy Larder

Privacy Policy

Your data stays yours

Last updated: [DATE]

The short version: Lazy Larder doesn't have accounts, doesn't track you, and doesn't show ads. Your recipes, meal plans and shopping lists live in your own iCloud.

Who we are

Lazy Larder is made by Ross and Amanda [SURNAME / COMPANY NAME], [LOCATION]. If you have any questions about this policy, email hello@lazylarder.com.

What the app stores, and where

Everything you add – recipes, photos, meal plans, shopping lists, categories and tags – is stored in your own iCloud account using Apple's iCloud (CloudKit). We don't run our own servers and can't see this information.

You don't create an account with us. Lazy Larder never asks for your name, email address or a password; Apple handles sign-in through iCloud and keeps your identity private from us.

Sharing with your household

When you invite someone to your household, Apple's iCloud sharing gives them access to your shared recipes, plan and shopping list. You choose who to invite, and you can stop sharing at any time from the app or your iCloud settings.

Recipe share codes

If you create a share code for a recipe, a copy of that recipe is saved to the app's public iCloud database so that anyone who enters the code can add it to their own app. Only share codes with people you're happy to see the recipe. [How long shared recipes are kept, and how to ask for one to be removed.]

Photos, camera and sensors

The app only sees photos you choose or take yourself. Reading text from a recipe photo happens on your device. In cook mode, the hands-free gesture uses your iPhone's proximity sensor on the device only – nothing is recorded or stored.

Recipe links

When you add a recipe from a link, your device fetches that web page directly to read the ingredients. The website may see that request in the same way as if you visited it in your browser.

What we don't do

The app has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking across other apps or websites, and no AI. We never sell your data.

The waitlist

If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address, plus anything else you choose to tell us on the form (such as your first name or which phone you use). We use it only to tell you when Lazy Larder launches and, if you've asked to, to invite you to test early versions. We collect it with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

The waitlist is run using Mailchimp, an email service owned by Intuit Inc. Your details are stored by Mailchimp, which means they're held in the United States. Mailchimp's own privacy policy (mailchimp.com/legal) explains how it looks after your data and protects information transferred from the UK.

Like most email services, Mailchimp records whether our emails are opened and which links are clicked. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your details at any time by emailing hello@lazylarder.com. We'll delete the waitlist [WHEN – e.g. six months after launch].

Your choices

You can delete anything in the app at any time. Deleting the app's data from your iCloud settings removes it completely. Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you (in practice, your waitlist details), and ask us to correct or delete it, or to stop using it. Email hello@lazylarder.com and we'll sort it out. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If anything changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
